Vegas Part 2

Before I finish my story about our trip to Las Vegas from last week, I wanted to mention that I've now started selling prints of my photos on my photography site, digital|shutter. Payment is made through PayPal, so everything is secure. I'm pretty excited about this, and hope people will want to buy some of my photos.

Also I want to mention that I haven't posted any pictures here from our Vegas trip because Blogger is having issues. It won't let me upload any. I'll keep trying.

Back to the story. The next day was Saturday. We slept in until 10:30 or so. We got ready and headed over to Pick Up Stix for lunch. This place is awesome. After lunch, we headed over to the park where the Annual Bite of Las Vegas was being held. It's a yearly festival that features food and music. Restaurants have booths setup all over the place. You can sample and buy foods and hear great music. They had two stages for music. One was local bands and the other was headliners. We got there with our blanket and chilled on the grass in front of the stage for a while. There weren't a ton of people waiting for the concert, but by the time the last band came out, the place was packed. I think this was Heather's first real concert. She's seen Weezer before, but that doesn't count. We had fun chilling on the grass all afternoon and talking to drunk guy sitting next to us. Everyone in that place was at least one of the following: drunk, smoking or obnoxious. The headlining show started at 2:00PM with Jem. She's a British artist that reminds me of Dido. We tried listening to her album on our drive down to Vegas, but it was kind of boring. It was a lot more entertaining live. They rocked a lot harder and it was more enjoyable. Next up was Josh Kelley. I've been a big Josh Kelley fan for a while. He had a pretty big hit on his first album with "Amazing" but I never really heard any other songs on the radio. It's to bad, because the guy is super-talented. I try telling people that he's kinda like John Mayer, except he writes songs that aren't boring. Anyway, he was awesome live. The guy's vocals are dead on and he's fun to watch. The lead guitarist had pigtails, like Pippy Longstocking. It was pretty awesome. There was also a dude playing the piano that had long curly hair and a full beard. Sweet! After Josh Kelley was one of my favorite bands of all time. Better Than Ezra. This is the second time I've been able to see them live. They came out and rocked it in BTE's typical comedic fashion. Kevin Griffin, the lead singer is a crack up. After BTE was Collective Soul. I've been a Collective Soul fan, since their first album came out my freshman year of high school. I have and listen to all of their albums except for their newest one, I haven't listened to it all that much. This is the third time I've seen them in concert. Let me just say, I've never seen someone as crazy with a mic stand as the lead singer, Ed Roland. He was all over the place throwing that mic stand. It was pretty entertaining just to watch him. Collective Soul put on a good show. They came out and did an encore. As soon as I head that the last song was "Shine," Heather and I started for the car. Everyone at the show was chanting "Shine, Shine, Shine." I don't know why. Out of half-dozen albums that Collective Soul has, "Shine" is probably the song that I like the least. Sure, it's the reason I started listening to them in the first place, but they have written much better music since then. Oh well, to each his own. Needless to say, the concert was awesome. We paid $5 to get into the festival and that included all the shows. It was the best five bucks I've ever spent. Heather enjoyed it, but didn't like her ears ringing after the show. I told her, that's how you know it was a good show. After the show we went to IHOP for dinner. We love that place. Then we went back to the hotel, chilled in the pool and jacuzzi and then crashed. We left around noon the next day and headed for home. We stopped in St. George to see the temple and get something to eat. We got home much later than expect. It probably has something to do with the fact that every road in Utah is under construction all the time, even when it's not under construction. I get mad just thinking about it, but I'm not going to get into that. So, Blogger is still having issues with me uploading images, so none of those for right now. Hopefully they'll get it fixed.
