A pretty good day

So this past Saturday was my company's summer party. This year, they decided to have it up at Jordan Commons Theater. Your whole family could come and they gave us the option of seeing Superman in IMAX or Cars. Heather and I decided that Superman would be the best choice. Along with the movie, we were given gift cards for the concession stands and the company was going to be giving away door prizes. Like the Christmas party, you had to be present to win anything. Saturday morning, I wasn't really in the mood to go. I hadn't slept at all that night. At about 5:30am I had given up on sleeping and went out to play some 360. The party was starting pretty early. They wanted us to be there around 9:00am so we could be in our seats by 9:30am when the prizes would be given away. That meant that we needed to leave around 8:30 if we wanted to get there and be close to on-time. I'm pretty sure I was still in bed around 8:10. Heather was up and trying to get my out of bed so we could get ready and go. I was hesitant because I was so tired, but I finally got up and got ready. We got to the theater and the lines for the concessions were crazy, so we decided against that. We went straight into the screen that Superman was showing on and the place was already packed. It was only my company at in that screen and only the lower section had seats available. We found a decent spot that wasn't too close and we started chilling. After a while they started giving away the door prizes. The third or fourth item they gave away was a personal DVD player. Believe it or not, they called my name. This time I was there to claim my prize. It was a pretty good feeling. I felt somewhat better about not getting the LCD TV that I was supposed to win at the company Christmas party. (See: A series of crappy events.) Not a ton better, but maybe 10% better. I don't know what the odds are of having my name drawn at two company parties in a row, but there are at least 350 employees in my company, so the odds can't be very good. Anyways, we got to eat lunch at Sweet Tomatoes, which was really good. Then we drove over to Best Buy and returned the personal DVD player, since they were kind enough to put a gift receipt on the package. I figured we would never be able to use it since we hardly ever travel. I was able to get store credit at Best Buy and bought myself an Xbox 360 game. We've even got some credit left and we're going to buy a new MP3/CD player for our car. After it was all over, I was really glad Heather dragged me out of bed in the morning.

You're so lucky I'm here or you would have been out of another prize. Just another reason why I am so awesome. Too bad we couldn't just get cash, but I know you're excited about the MP3 player since we got rid of your old one with the truck.
